Global South Support Programme for Civil Society

DEVELOPMENT PARTNER: GLOBAL SOUTH INITIATIVE

Global South Programme is an initiative that supports Civil Society organizations in Kenya, Uganda and Somalia. The Programme supports capacity building initiatives in the thematic areas informed by the Danida Development Policy. These are:

• Human rights;
• Green growth;
• Social progress;
• Stability and protection.

The Programme supports capacity development in the following intervention areas:

• Advocacy;
• Human-rights based approach;
• Organizational development.

ASSESSING COMMUNITY CLIMATE CHANGE RISKS AND ADAPTIVE CAPACITIES IN SELECTED HOTSPOTS IN EAST AFRICA

DEVELOPMENT PARTNER: USAID/PREPARED
Funded by the United States Agency for Development- USAID under its Planning for Resilience in East Africa through Policy, Adaptation, Research and Economic Development- PREPARED Program.
The project was implemented over a period of 7 months, starting August 2015 to February 2016 in the Lake Victoria Basin across the 5 East Africa States i.e. Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and Tanzania with an extension to July 2016. This project entailed in-depth technical studies across 5 sectors i.e.

STRENGTHENING THE ADVOCACY ROLE OF LOCAL COMMUNITIES IN THE LAKE VICTORIA BASIN ON NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

DEVELOPMENT PARTNER: SUSTAINABLEENERGY, DENMARK
The project focused on Advocacy on Natural Resource Management in the River Nyando Basin, through increasing the role of local people in decision-making and managing their natural resources, this project aimed at improving local livelihoods’ and establishment of sustainable processes for transparent and participatory decision-making in the lake Victoria Region, thereby enhancing the development of policies based on the needs of the local population.

LVEMP II CIVIL SOCIETY WATCH PROJECT

DEVELOPMENT PARTNER: GOVERNMENT OF SWEDEN (SIDA)
This was a three year initiative of the East African Sustainability Watch Network partners: Uganda Coalition for Sustainable Development (UCSD), Tanzania Coalition for Sustainable Development (TCSD) and SusWatch Kenya that was implemented from November 2011 to October 2014. It was supported by the Government of Sweden grant of USD2,766,807.
